The 100 considers economic empowerment as a necessary step toward creating a just society, not only here in the United States, but for black people around the world. The 100 defines economic empowerment as the ability to be self-determined in creating dreams, pursuing them and black-economic-empowerment-certificateultimately perpetuating them by establishing the mechanisms to sustain generational wealth. Our program initiatives promote generational economic self-sufficiency through financial literacy, family wealth building and entrepreneurship. Current programs include:
  • Dollars & $ense Youth Investment Program
  • SmartEdge by GMAC
  • Money Smart
  • Bank of America Family Home Ownership Program
  • Prudential Financial Literacy Program

The organization's Health & Wellness Committee provides leadership to the chapters as they establish health & wellness committees at the local level. Through civic and corporate partnerships, the 100 delivers health education programs and free health screenings in hundreds of communities annually. Current health & wellness signature programs include:

Youth Movement

Youth Movement is a youth development program of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., whose mission is to improve the overall health and well-being of youth through structured physical fitness training, wholesome food choices, character development, and mentoring. Through these activities, Youth Movement helps students improve their health, develop long-term goals, and overcome obstacles and achieve lifetime success.

Nutrition and Physical Activity The 100 Way

Nutrition and Physical Activity the 100 Way is a comprehensive program, with an accompanying program manual, that educates youth on the importance of proper eating and physical activity. 100 Black Men programs play an important role in motivating young people to examine factors that influence their behaviors, while guiding them in establishing viable, lifelong solutions. Nutrition and Physical Activity the 100 Way program activities deliver the following results:
  • Increase their understanding of nutrition and fitness related issues that affect their environments
  • Teach skills that will help them make healthier nutrition and physical activity choices
  • Design a youth-driven nutrition and physical activity community project
  • Model and promote healthful eating and physical activity

Education

The 100 provides annual scholarship awards to deserving matriculating students who will be full-time students at accredited and post-secondary institutions based on 100 Black Men of the Upstate eligibility criteria. Scholarship dollars assist youth in completing educational goals by providing resources to offset expenses associated with tuition, books and housing. The scholarship program allows the 100 to identify potential youth leaders in our local communities and motivates them to achieve academic and community service excellence.

Leadership

The 100 Black Men Upstate SC is dedicated to shaping the next generation of leaders by providing both individual and group mentoring to students in grades 6 through 12. Our program focuses on young men and women who demonstrate leadership potential and a strong desire to pursue post-secondary education. Through meaningful mentorship, we aim to cultivate confidence, resilience, and a commitment to excellence, ensuring that our youth are equipped with the skills and mindset necessary to succeed in all aspects of life.

In today's fast-paced society, where young people are significantly influenced by their peers and surroundings, our program strives to instill values of leadership, responsibility, and service. We create impactful experiences that not only build academic and professional skills but also nurture a deep sense of pride in oneself and one's community. By exposing students to mentorship, educational opportunities, career exploration, and real-world experiences, we empower them to step into leadership roles today, preparing them to be the changemakers of tomorrow.
